Overview: As hardware gains performance beyond Moore's law predictions, stereo rendering is attainable now and will become commonplace in the near future. Utilizing modern high-end hardware, Disney's Toy Story Midway Mania not only renders Pixar's Toy Story characters in real time, but also in stereo projection. Stereo rendering issues will be discussed such as ghost-busting, eye point issues, off-axis projection, and the creation of (and iteration on) content for a 3D stereo rendered attraction. Additional attention will be paid to the various types of stereo hardware available today and some of the benefits and challenges of each. Finally a discussion of how modern GPUs allow the flexibility required to try and compensate for some of the issue with using stereo projection.
