Overview: In 2007 GameLayers raised $500k in seed money to make a Passively Multiplayer Online Game, an MMO in a Firefox toolbar. After raising another $1.5 million of venture capital and expanding to nine employees, GameLayers found itself in late 2009 with no Firefox MMO, two Facebook games and four employees. What happened to GameLayers? This session will share lessons from a web games startup: raising money on prototypes, revenue attempts on unusual platforms, and evolving a company in search of larger markets.
