Overview: This presentation covers the process of designing puzzles for LIMBO, the award winning and critically acclaimed puzzle-platformer which was released on Xbox Live Arcade earlier this year. Jeppe Carlsen, the lead level designer at Copenhagen-based developer Playdead, describes the process of creating an immersive game experience that is challenging without being discouraging. Jeppe will discuss the design principles while using concrete examples from the game, focusing on considerations in the areas of accessibility, difficulty, learning by dying, and fun.
