Over the last few years, the techniques and tools of a game visual effects artist have changed dramatically. We now have powerful GPU's, shaders, advanced particle simulations, deferred rendering, and a host of post processing tools. On mobile platforms, we're discovering a need for hybrid approaches that combine the best of the new technology with the tried and true tricks of the last generation. But in spite of all these innovations, the forward progress of our industry is still gated by a shortage of communities where these common challenges can be discussed. This roundtable provides a venue for that discussion and more. In addition to the specifics of effect creation, we'll discuss ways to continue strengthening our vfx community and knowledge sharing so we can focus on making the most innovative and spectacular effects possible.
