Overview:

How many times have you implemented a feature request only to discover months later than no-one is using it? Rather than using gut feeling to decide value, this presentation will show you how to accurately track the effectiveness of your feature requests with software engineering and telemetry.

A large part of software engineering is about recognizing repetitive tasks and encapsulating those tasks into something simpler. By having programmers job shadow a team of users, repetitive tasks can be identified and encapsulated. Programmers can also add telemetry to their encapsulations, allowing them to track how effective their encapsulations are. The telemetry data can be used to show that the programmer's effort had a meaningful impact. See how job shadowing and telemetry helped improve the workflow of several teams on Mass Effect 3 and how you can do it on your project too!
