Overview: |
This talk looks at traffic simulation in a large urban environment, exploring the challenges involved and the approaches taken to them, and touches on a few open problems and ideas for future work. The focus is on the concept of scheduling traffic flow for a short period into the future, rather than frame-by-frame simulation, and the implications of this across all aspects of the simulation, including spawning, levels of detail, path finding and following, and dealing with real-time changes such as player interaction.
