Overview:

Between the ultimate sandbox game and the longest cutscene lies a world of varying degrees and types of authorial control. The question is not whether you do it, but how, when, how much, and why? Telltale Games Director of Design, Dave Grossman, introduces "The Hand of Fate" as a way of thinking about the happy medium where authorial voice is felt but is not oppressive. He will show writers/designers thoughtful use of the tools and avenues available as well as the consideration of their dramatic effects on a game. He will also discuss how they serve to define their voice while they wrestle with the eternal dichotomy between Fate and Free Will.
