Overview: Wukong AI, an artificial intelligence program, playing Honor of Kings, a popular MOBA game published by Tencent, exceeds the performance of top-professional player. Based on the superhuman AI ability, Wukong AI has been applied to many aspects of game, such as Wukong AI challenge, game balance testing, etc. However, to achieve these goals, there are many challenges need to be tackled, such as cooperation between multi-agent, human-like behavior and strategy diversity. Wukong AI adopts a combination of novel and existing learning techniques, including off-policy adaption, multi-head value estimation, curriculum self-play, policy distillation, and Monte-Carlo tree-search, in training and playing a large pool of heroes, meanwhile addressing the scalability issue skillfully. Although WukongAI use Honor of Kings as a case study, these proposed techniques are also applicable to other MOBA games, as the playing mechanics across MOBA games are similar.
