Overview: In this session, Royal O'Brien, Executive Director at Open 3D Foundation (O3DF), will explore how open source software and methodologies are providing a blueprint for our industry to collaborate in solving common problems and accelerate innovation in delivering immersive experiences. Metaverse, digital twin, AI, automotive, healthcare, robotics, and connected cars are all applications that leverage the legacy of game development, but they have unique needs. These new applications face new technical challenges, and content creators need new 3D technologies to meet the demand. Royal will discuss modularity and interoperability as paths for 3D content creators to tackle tough challenges, combining open source and proprietary solutions to unleash their creativity. As the industry races towards 3D applications like those listed above, we're way beyond the Kansas of gaming, the Open 3D Foundation (O3DF) provides a home for artists, content creators, developers and technology leaders to collaborate, share best practices, and shape the future of open 3D development.
