Overview: This session is aimed at game developers, who are interested in participating in EU funded collaborative research projects. The opportunities to receive research and development funding through programs like Framework Seven are significant. Game developers from Europe can participate in these programs and finance parts of the technology through collaborative European support programs. The session will highlighting aspects which will be addressed in the upcoming work program which are likely to be of interest to European game developers. Game developers are ideally situated, as they are content driven small medium enterprises for information and communication technologies.

The first part of the session will explain thematic aspects of the Framework Seven program relevant for game developers and also the role of NEM initiative. The second part of the session will show examples, namely game related research projects which are currently ongoing from a networked media perspective. They show that it is possible to participate in research projects as game developers and that is worth it. The presentation of the research projects will also highlight opportunities for game developers to participate at a later stage in ongoing research projects.
