Overview: We all know that games are considered mainstream entertainment. What fewer people are aware of is the fascination with game design in a wide variety of areas, and the unsurprising lack of proper practitioners to inform these conversations. This is how we end up with silly ideas like gamification.
There are real, interesting problems that can be addressed by game designers. Nuclear disarmament. Effects of globalization. Education in the 21st century. Impact on the environment. The list goes on. Michael has spent three years in this world, after 15 in entertainment. He will share his stories and some ideas about bringing game design out to the world beyond entertainment.
