This presentation shows a real-time LOD material coalescing technique that can be applied to different lightning models and user generated content, and yields a model rendering with a single material and draw call. With this technique, Microsoft was able to increase the grid size in 'Forza Motorsport 6' by 50% from 16 to 24 cars without incurring any extra GPU budget when comparing to 'Forza Motorsport 5'. |
