|Overview:||Every game presents a variety of technical challenges that force you to get creative, often requiring very project-specific fixes. At PopCap, they had the good fortune of working on a multitude different games simultaneously, allowing them to draw similarities wherever possible and avoid overly-bespoke solutions. This talk will look in detail at two challenges they faced in their last two games, 'Bejeweled Stars' and 'Plants vs Zombies: Heroes', and the unique solutions they arrived at for both: 2D menus needing additive state-based mixing, and dynamic game objects making use of game-defined auxiliary send routing.|
