Without a computer there to manage all of the boring bits, how can players become immersed in a game's story or fictional reality?This session covers techniques applied to the design of Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition that create player immersion. Using 4th edition D&D as a point of contrast, it illustrates the differences between a design that creates immersion and one that foils it and extends them into principles useful to any tabletop genre.
