Overview: This talk analyzes different ways of incorporating morality or charisma in game design systems and how that influences the narrative delivery. Various game stories rely on portraying ethical dilemmas and asking the player to make a choice. These choices are nestled into dialogue systems and are monitored to determine whether the player is "Good" or "Evil." Jana argues that there's more to it, and that in order to truly place a player in a moral dilemma, we have to look outside of the box of storytelling tools and embrace gameplay as a catalyst for narrative.
