Overview: |
This session will closely examine technical breakthroughs involved in Syfy's Incorporated Comic-Con VR Experience, 'The Quiet Room', and how live action plate photography was woven into the real-time VR experience for the HTC Vive. The session will detail how Digital Domain used a combination of real-time laser scanning, high fidelity RED digital cameras shot in stereo, photogrammetry and 3D rotomation to create a believable and realistic presence of a live action actor inside the environment as he moved in real-time with full freedom of motion. Additionally, the speaker will discuss the history of this style of VR filmmaking, starting with one of the first multi-camera VR projects, 'The Neymar Jr. Effect' (shot for Nike soccer cleats) and provide an overview of visual effects in VR, culminating with the Syfy project.
