Overview: Even without the graphics processing and compelling game play, stories are immersive ephemeral environments that people naturally sink into. While crafting a story may include creating great words and images, more than that it means establishing a relationship with the audience such that the audience can establish a relationship with the story. These relationships are managed on a moment-by-moment basis and are part of the craft of storytelling. Gaming provides increasingly better ways of managing those relationships for a mediated form. This presentation will discuss how storytellers and game designers can leverage traditional storytelling tools for new forms of stories.
